Her customer service gives you a superb feeling to buy the fresh goods spread out on her market stall.

This stall cannot be missed when you step into the Namaka market, a suburb in Nadi.

Meet Angie Prasad, 45, who is passionate about selling fruits, vegetables and you name it – it’s all available there.

“I love my job, most importantly I just love my customers who love to buy things that are fresh,” said the Tavoli, Tavua, native.

“I wake up at 4am daily, cook, wash and clean the house before my day begins at the market, seven days a week.”

The reason they do not want to let go of selling in the market is because it was where their dreams began.

“We use to go door to door to sell, then road side selling, under the trees and later found ourselves in the market.”

Mrs Prasad is also the co-director of Farmboy with her husband Kamlesh who hails from the Sigatoka Valley.

“We have about 500 growers around Fiji that supply to our company Farmboy, which then we supply to the super yachts, hotels and resorts and our loyal customers.”

She was a beauty therapist by profession in the year 1989; the same year also got married but became a full time market vendor in 2002 at the Namaka market.

She has supported her husband who also switched into farming due to the high demand required at their farm.

Mrs Prasad said what she got from the market had seen her three daughters do excel in their respective education discipline.

She has urged housewives staying at home to be a market vendor at the market near to them.
