The world is becoming a dangerous place, not because of those who did wrong, but because of those who look on and did nothing.

These were the words of Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North president, Shubash Chandra, while addressing the public and contestants on Wednesday as chief guest at the Vodafone Savusavu Carnival.

“Your theme for this year, ‘Go Green – Stop Global Warming‘ is quite apt as it goes in line with the major issue of climate change which affects each one of us – directly or indirectly,” Mr Chandra said.

“These issues are very real and are everyone’s concern. Positive actions as going green, planting more trees and so on, is but one step in the right direction.”

Members of the public in Savusavu turned up in large numbers, with number of attendees expected to increase tonight and the closing tomorrow.

The crowning will be the culmination of the event starting at 8:30pm tomorrow preceded by the float procession at 10:30am from the Savusavu Police Station ground.

PROGRAMME TODAY:

Baby show at 9.30am

Theme for tonight: Multicultural night

Second public judging: 8.30pm.
