The staff of the Strategic headquarters at Berkeley Crescent in Suva yesterday concluded their busy month with an early morning walk.

Officers, men and women of the Strategic HQ and Officers Training School (OTS) including the civilian staff took part in the 11 kilometres walk which started from Berkeley Crescent, through McGregor Road, along the Laucala Bay Road, Queen Elizabeth Drive,  Cakobau Rd and back to Berkeley Crescent.

HQRFMF Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Warrant Officer Class Two (WO2) Asivorosi Tora said that the purpose of the walk was to provide a presence as their constitutional role is providing security and defence for all Fijians.

WO2 Tora said they wanted to show and support the effort by the honourable Prime Minister in the advocacy of COP23 in the efforts of climate change.

“We would like to promote wellness and healthy living through staying fit, eating a balanced diet and living healthy and this would be the best opportunity to do things together as a unit collectively once every month,” WO2 Tora said.

The morning walk was followed up with a unit monthly church service at mid-day and was an opportunity to celebrate birthdays and promotions to conclude the programme.
