Korovuto College defended their title at the popular Film Fiji and Fijian Made Film Awards at the Damodar V-Max Cinema at Damodar City Centre in Suva on Friday night.

The West school also scooped the Best Costume and Makeup award for their movie Real Love No Charge and Best Supporting Actress went to Lavenia Nayacalevu.

Another West school Swami Vivekananda College scooped six titles.

25 films from schools in all the divisions were shown on social media and other platforms leading up to the event.

Chief guest, Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, called on school students to continue building their talents in the film industry even after they have completed high school.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said while it was a ‘baby industry’ here it was important to note the power of filmmaking and its opportunities.

He said the students have a lot of talent and should be encouraged to continue making films.

“There’s a whole array of employment and an opportunity for our children in Fiji through the film industry.”

This is the 12th year the awards has been running.

• Best Set and Art Design: Swami Viveknanda College. ‘ My Own Daughter’
• Best Sound: Swami Vivekananda College ‘My Own Daughter.’
• Fiji Airways Best Mixed Media: Youngju Cho of Swami Vivekananda College
• Fiji Airways Best Ink on Paper: Isaia William of Khalsa College.
• Fiji Airways Best Painting: Lomani Rova of Swami Vivekananda College
