Suva coach Saiasi Fuli was a happy man after the capital side scored an upset 24-23 victory over BLK Nadroga at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

The former national halfback scored the winning try against the Stallions in 2005 and was the assistant coach when they won in 2012.

Fuli was full of praise for his troops for well-deserved victory.

“This is the reward for hard work- the HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge is a different ball game altogether,”Fuli said.

“We came here with determination and the plan to play for 80 minutes. “I think the letdown is the indiscipline.

“I think the joy for me was the fact the last time Suva won the Farebrother in Lawaqa in 2005 I scored the winning try. And again we won in 2012 with me as assistant coach.

“The message was to double up effort to cover the loss of flanker Samu (Bola). We respect the decision of the referee but hats off to the players for eventually winning the game with 14 men.

BLK Nadroga coach Esala Nauga credits a good Suva outfit.

“I thank Suva for giving us a good game. We committed some mistakes and Suva worked on it to their advantage. We have been playing nearly every weekend and the first half injuries to our key players disrupt our game plan. But the good thing is all our subs now know what it’s like to play on that level. We are looking forward to next season.”
