Committe Collects $62,000 In Revenue

The Miss Vodafone Savusavu Carnival committee collected $62,000 during the four-day event, says carnival committe chairman Vijay Chand.
Mr Chand, who is also the Special Administrator Savusavu Town, paid tribute to the people of Savusavu for taking part in the festivities.
“We would like to thank the people of Savusavu for their continuous support throughout the four-day event and we look forward to your support in years to come,” Mr Chand said.
The closing ceremony chief guest, Assistant Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment Lorna Eden applauded the committee for choosing the theme ‘Go Green – Stop Global Warming’.
“As you are all aware our Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama recently returned from New York where he was co-chair of the World Ocean Conference alongside Sweden,” she said.
“In November this year, our Prime Minister and Fiji will be the President of the Conference of Parties on Climate Change – COP23, which will be held in Germany.
“These are huge achievements for Fiji, and we shall all be very proud to be Fijians now, more than ever before.”
More than 500 people turned up for the closing event at the Narain Grounds on Saturday night.
