MP Bhatnagar Hands Over Wheelchair For Kumar Family

A wheelchair was presented on Saturday to the family of a 10-year-old disabled girl at the Fiji National Council for Disabled Persons complex in Labasa.
The presentation was made by the Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Veena Bhatnagar and Fiji National Council for Disabled Persons executive officer, Kush Prasad, to Shalend Kumar’s family.
In handing over the wheelchair, Ms Bhatnagar also took the time to thank the Church of the Latter Day Saints for the support they had been providing the ministry and in particular helping disabled persons live a better life.
The wheelchairs were distributed to the Council through the partnership between LDS Church Charity and Spinal Injury Association of Fiji for people living with disabilities. Ms Bhatnagar said that supporting and empowering people with disabilities would help them to improve their daily lives and it was an issue close to her heart.
Bulileka resident Mr Kumar acknowledged the ministry and the Fiji National Council for Disabled Persons for giving them the wheelchair.
He said that this would assist in moving his daughter around and make her comfortable.
“This will enable my wife to do other household chores and help us move our daughter around,” said Mr Kumar.
Ms Bhatnagar said the assistance would help to improve the lives of people with disabilities and no one would be left behind.
