The new Bailey bridge in Tavualevu, Tavua is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

This was confirmed by the Fiji Roads Authority acting chief executive officer Robert Sen yesterday.

“This Bridge is being constructed to allow traffic flow to continue whilst the existing bridge is replaced with a new one,” he said.

“Works started earlier this year in April and shall be completed by the end of August, depending on other factors such as weather or cement supply,” added Mr Sen.

Currently the contractors are working on the construction of the abutment for the bridge.

“Works are still on-going; hence actual cost cannot be determined,” he said.

It is understood once the Bailey bridge project is completed the dismantling of the current bridge will take place.
