A woman is admitted at the Taveuni Hospital after a taxi she was travelling in with her three children caught fire near Lamini in Taveuni yesterday.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said her children escaped injuries.
The driver was being questioned at the Police station, she said.
A Taveuni resident, Onny Cokanauto, who arrived at the scene minutes after the passengers were taken to the hospital, said: “When I got there, there was clear evidence that the car had caught fire. It was a wreck.”
It is understood that the family resides at Vuniwai settlement in Naqara.
Naqara is the Central Business District on Taveuni Island.
Police investigation continues.
