Incentives for sugarcane farmers
Ravneel Sharma, Suva
I would like to commend the Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for reaching out to the people in the western and northern divisions trying to help farmers gain confidence in the sugar industry.
Bringing in the cane harvester machines will definitely boost economic growth as more production of sugar is expected in the future. This is what leaders do rather than playing dirty politics and making the lives of farmers difficult.
Plastic Bags
Samuela Rareba, Suva
It has begun. Now they will ask you whether you want plastic at 10cents each or not. It will be interesting to see people not wanting to pay the levy and just holding out their goods with their hands, talk about customer services.
Another thing that will be very interesting to see is a supermarket owner’s reaction when seeing their customer using another supermarket’s plastic bags.
Talk about buying goods from one supermarket and marketing it for another supermarket.
Mill mix bags and wheelbarrows
Sukha Singh, Labasa
Can we also use the empty mill mix or empty flour bags for our shopping? Also, I wanted to buy a wheelbarrow but I would have to hire someone to look after it on the footpath while I do my shopping in the supermarket.
I am just wondering if the supermarkets can allow a shopper to bring his or her wheelbarrow into the supermarket.
Early childhood slice
Isimeli Nalomaca, Nasinu
It is good to know that the education sector got the largest slice of the budget pie. The real question is; how much of that slice is for Early Childhood Education (ECE)?
If you know, can we know?
