Activist Urging Public To Watch Climate Change Documentary

A Climate Change documentary featuring Al Gore, Barack Obama and Donald Trump with segments on Al-Gore being one of the prominent faces of climate change is now showing at the VMAX Cinema in Damodar City, Suva.

The documentary is An Inconvenience Sequel: Truth to Power.

It features American politician’s Gore’s global efforts to persuade governmental leaders to invest in renewable energy, culminated in the landmark signing of the 2016 Paris Climate Agreement.

The one hour follow- up documentary addresses progress made to tackle the problem of climate change.

Climate Activists, Maria Nailevu said it was important that Pacific Islanders view this documentary because it gave an insight into the developed world, Trump’s administration and climate change deniers.

“For us in the Pacific, we are not aware of most of the truth about the bigger world’s contribution to climate change, geo-politics and power playing among the big countries,” Ms Nailevu said.

Ms Nailevu said such power houses were more focused with the thriving economy, money and power and not the livelihood and survival of humankind.

She said as climate justice activists, it was important that we create more community awareness and education to our people.

“We can’t keep turning a blind eye to climate change, our communities need to be engaged and empowered on how they can be part of people’s movements,” she said.

She encourages members of the public to watch An Inconvenience Sequel: Truth to Power.
