Local exporters that took part in the Auckland Food Show last week returned with good news.

It was extra special for first timer, Tavulomo Coconut Processing Ltd.

Tavulomo Coconut’s ‘Coconut Jerky’ was the only Pacific company listed in the New Zealand Herald’s coverage of the food show as one of the five things to try out at the show.

Owner Chris Wyllie said visitors were “very curious” about coconut jerky and the product sold well across the counter.

Tavulomo also supply raw virgin coconut oil to its market.

Mr Wyllie said they received good feedback on their products.

He said it was also challenging as there were other companies selling cheaper products.

FMF Foods

FMF Foods Ltd took advantage of the opportunity to showcase some of their new products.

FMF Foods Ltd exports manager Rakesh Raju said they provided samples of the Fine Fare lemon bite and Taro Chips with salt and chili flavor.

He said the feedback was positive.

“If you look at the chips category, there are no products with salt and chili flavors especially for Taro Chips as well as salt and lemon.”

There are over 20 FMF Foods products available in New Zealand.

Mr Raju said such platforms allow the company to interact with the final consumers directly.

A total of 9 companies were from the Pacific. They were part of the ‘Pacific Hub’.

“This year’s show was much better and bigger as a lot of people came.

“Last year, the crowd was not big but this year it was different. There were a lot of people who attended for the entire four day Show,” said Mr Raju.

Pleass Global

First-time participant, Pleass Global Limited also used the opportunity to showcase their VaiWai® Natural Artesian Water and AquaSafe® Natural Artesian Water.

Pleass Global Ltd national sales manager Stanley Naicker said the show was a great opportunity to meet with potential partners and consumers from all channels in the New Zealand market.

“New Zealand is an important trade partner and we aim to partner with distributors in New Zealand for wider distribution of our brands.

“The show provided a platform for exchange.”

He added that the company plans to continue to provide premium waters, AquaSafe® and VaiWai® to the Pacific and other international markets.

The Auckland Food Show is the biggest food show in New Zealand.
