Fiji Fa Supports Development Of Women’s Football

Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel says Fiji FA is now fully committed in the development of women’s football in the country.
Speaking during the farewell and presentation ceremony of the Vodafone Fiji national under 16 team last Friday, Patel said they had made a decision that development in football would be in all gender group.
“We will now be developing football both in male and female equally and that is the whole reason we are sending the first ever Under 16 team for the OFC Championship, “Patel said.
He said the participation of the Vodafone Fiji national Under 19 team at the OFC Championship and second finish was a great achievement for Fiji Football.
“That is something we have invested not only in players but also in coaches.”
Patel said they had been appointing qualified coaches for all age group teams now.
“We are appointing qualified coaches who are B License coach and Marika Rodu is one of them who will be taking this team.”
He said they were giving technical knowledge plus coaching abilities to the women football to give equality that men’s football got in here I Fiji.
Patel said women’s football would go long way and might one day took over men’s football.
“Women’s power in this world is a greater power and I think it is a great achievable and women’s should be applauded for it.”
