Sisters Excited To Be In U16 Girl’s Team

Sisters Vani Rokonalewa Bainivalu and Losana Uluitai Bainivalu were excited after been named in the Vodafone Fiji national under 16 girls team for the OFC Championship in Samoa.

The championship starts from tomorrow.

Coming from the rugby background the two sisters are proud to represent the country in football.

Speaking to Fiji FA media after the naming and presentation last Friday, Vani who is the youngest said they both were excited to be in the team.

“We both are excited and looking forward to feature at OFC Championship,” Vani said.

“We started playing together and it’s good that we will play together in the Fiji team.” Vani said although her dad played rugby she was happy to take football.

“My dad is a rugby player but he always encourages us to play football and my mum as well, “she said.

Losana said she did not expect to be named in the team with her sister.

“I didn’t expect to be named in the 20 member squad with my sister but now I am excited to take the field in Samoa.”

She said she aimed to help Fiji win the gold in the OFC U-16 Championship and qualify for FIFA Under 17 World Cup next year.

The Vodafone Fiji Under 16 team left our shores on Tuesday and plays its first tomorrow against American Samoa.
