Trip was to meet farmers on the ground, says Assistant Agriculture Minister Pillay

Assistant Minister for Agriculture Viam Pillay last week concluded his week-long tour to the Northern Division.
While on tour Mr Pillay met with farmers, farmer cluster groups and other key agricultural stakeholders within the northern farming community.
He was accompanied by senior agricultural officials and divisional officers.
Mr Pillay said that the tour was aimed at meeting farmers at the ground level and listening to their concerns.
“I am accompanied by the senior officials from the Ministry who will look into the issues raised by the farmers and see how we can address this in the best way,” he said.
Mr Pillay said the Ministry of Agriculture officials would continue to monitor farmers and progressing farmers would receive some form of assistance on their farm.
The tour was part of the ongoing consultations Mr Pillay was currently having with farmers around the country.
Mr Pillay will soon visit other parts of Fiji to hold similar consultations.
