Epineri Vula Further Remanded, Sureties Did Not Turn Up

A senior sub-editor with The Fiji Times has been further remanded in custody since no sureties were present at the Sigatoka Magistrate Court yesterday.

Epineri Vulakovaki, 47 of Suva appeared before Magistrate Waleen George charged with one count of general dishonesty – causing a loss.

The court was told that Vulakovaki’s two sureties for bail did not turn up.

According to the charge sheet, Vulakovaki is alleged to have committed the offence from the period of 5 March, 2016 to 25 February 2017, failing to pay his accommodation bill at Studio 6 Apartments causing a loss to Studio 6 Apartments with a sum of $20,814.

Magistrate George remanded Vulakovaki. He will re-appear at the Suva Magistrate Court on August 9 when his sureties would be expected to be present.
