Miss South India Kamachi Reddy was crowned Miss Pricilla 2017 during the Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival at the future site of the Damodar City Complex in Labasa on Wednesday night.

First runner-up was Miss Tahiti Louis Gill, who also clinched the Miss Photogenic award.

Miss Fiji Lusiana Vakalolo was named second runner-up.

He also scooped the Miss Personality and Best Gown awards.

Reddy, 20, of Taveuni thanked God for giving him the courage to stand before the crowd during his participation for four days at the carnival

“I want to thank mother, aunty Manu, sister, Shayal and relatives for their support,” Reddy said.

“I advocated on violence against transgender.

“People should accept us for who we are.

“There are times where people treat us differently because of what we choose to be.

“People should be open minded and accept our presence because after all we are human beings.”

Reddy was selected by the judges after successfully answering questions on stage for the final public judging before being crowned.
