Shop For Healthy Groceries

Forty- year-old Sereana Bui from Naluwai, Naitasiri knows that

good nutrition starts with smart choices in the grocery store.

One of her hobbies is cooking and believes on an advice from the Vunidawa Hospital that “Cooking up healthy meals is a challenge if you don’t have the right ingredients in your kitchen.”

To make sure that she cooks healthy meals for her family she travels to Suva to shop for their groceries at New World supermarket.

“I enjoy shopping here because the customer service is very good, it’s very easy for me to look around the shop and find the things I need,” she said. She said she trusted New World because their prices are affordable and her groceries were usually packed nicely by the staff before she headed back to her village.

Manager New World, Sharlesh Kumar, said that as part of providing the best services, the management had emphasised on the cleanliness of the supermarket.

“We work on the presentation of the shop and how clean it must be to ensure that our fruits, vegetables and other products are affordable with quality conditions,” he said.

He said customers were taking advantage of the food specials advertised weekly on the Fiji Sun.

Ms Bui said before she leaves the village, she prepares her shopping list. She shops within her budget and that is why she said the list was important. According to Ms Bui when shopping she checks the expiry dates of the products in the list.

Her favourite meal to cook for her family is curry chicken as they loved it.
