Students’ Competencies Give Green Light For Class One

Gospel Kindergarten teacher Nina Bola is confident her students are ready for Class One next year following their performance during the last day of pre-school celebrations on Friday.
Mrs Bola is one of the teachers teaching Early Childhood Education to180 students whose ages range between four and five.
“We have competent students for both sessions and the 5-year-olds are ready for their transition to Class One next year,” Mrs Bola said.
“From next year we will only have one session that will only cater for students who are 5-years-old because the current government pays teachers for the students who are 5-years-old and not for the students who are 4-years-old,” she said.
“Their performances over this week confirm that they are ready to move on next year.”
The students performed various items with their teachers for their parents and grandparents who turned up in big numbers to celebrate their children’s achievements.
Arti Maharaj was one of the proud parents present at the ECE function for her 4-year-old daughter Daisha Mani.
Ms Maharaj said: “I feel very proud and I look forward to putting her back into ECE next year again as she will be 5-years-old.
“I believe there is a lot of benefit in sending my daughter to school at an early age because she has grasped so much knowledge like her alphabets and numbers,” she said.
“ The developments in her are a lot and it is a proud moment for me as a mother when my daughter comes to me and sings all her jingles and tells me about the things that she has learnt.”
