Korean duo Jeunghun Wang and Soomin Lee will tackle the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course at the tri-sanctioned Fiji International from 17-20 August.

A three time winner on the European Tour, World Number 73 Wang will add some fire power to the Fiji International field.

Fresh from his second appearance at The Open Championship, Wang is looking forward to making his first trip to Fiji.

“I’m really looking forward to playing the Fiji International, I’ve heard fantastic things about the Fijian hospitality and the course looks stunning,” said Wang.

22-year-old Wang enjoyed a breakout year in 2016 taking out the European Tour’s Trophee Hassan II and the Mauritius Open; he secured his third victory this year at the Qatar Masters.

Also a European Tour winner, Lee will join his compatriot on the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course fairways.

“I am excited to play the Fiji International, being able to play a European Tour event in such a beautiful place is a real bonus,” said Lee.

The tri-sanctioning of the Fiji International by the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, European Tour and Asian Tour will increase the interest in the tournament around the world, with Asian stars strategically targeted for the tournament.

“The Fiji International showcases to the world that Fiji is a golf destination just as much as a tropical holiday spot,” said The Honourable Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism of Fiji.

“With the addition of the Asian Tour to the sanctioning of the Fiji International we wanted to ensure some of the best Asian players in the world were competing.

“We are delighted to welcome Koreans Jeunghun Wang and Soomin Lee to Fiji; Korea is an emerging tourism market for us.”

Wang and Lee join local Fijian hero and three time Major Champion Vijay Singh as well as six time European Tour Champion Brett Rumford from Australia in the field.

“We’re building an excellent mix of young stars from the European and Asian Tours as well as our players from Australia and New Zealand,” said Gavin Kirkman, CEO of the PGA of Australia.

“We are pleased with the way the field is shaping up and are looking forward to watching another quality edition of the Fiji International.”

A Pacific paradise, the Fiji International also boasts some of the most unique hospitality options in world golf with the par-3 8th hole providing the perfect vantage point to watch the golf, whilst socialising on the beach.
