Police are waiting for the medical clearance to interview Salaseini Tivai, the survivor of the tragic fire in Lautoka on Sunday night that claimed five lives.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the woman was recovering but they would have to wait until doctors gave them the approval to conduct the interview.

“The interview is also to ascertain from the woman, (Salaseini Tavai), as to who was the fifth person who perished in the fire,” Ms Naisoro said.

Police have identified Ms Tavai’s daughter Visili Hazel Ranadi, 3; siblings Luisa Mathewsella, 12, and Sefanaia Mathewsella, 9 and Telei Bavadra, 26.

Meanwhile, mother of the Mathewsella siblings, Mere Rigamoto Mathewsella, a flight attendant with Fiji Airways was away in Singapore when the tragic event happened.

She arrived yesterday morning from Singapore via Hong Kong.

She was received by some of her colleagues and some of her immediate family members at the airport.

Ms Mathewsella posted on her Facebook page, a photo of her children accompanied saying: “My beautiful souls… I can only thank God for blessing me with ur beautiful lives!!!”
