Assistant Superintendent of Police Margaret Marshall was awarded the Long Service Medal during the Police Medal Parade at Nasova yesterday.

She was among the 312 retired and serving Police officers who were awarded for their service by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

The 48-year-old began her service with the force when she was only 17-years-old. She began as a uniform officer.

Because of her diligence she moved up the ranks and at one time took up the post of manager for Crime Scene Investigations Central.

She then joined the Crime Investigation Department and the Specialist Unit under Forensic Investigations.

ASP Marshall is currently holding the post of Crime Scene Investigation Unit manager.

Her colleague, ASP Salaseini Vakatuturagani, was awarded the Ramsey Medal.

The mother of three began her career as a uniform officer for six years at Nausori Police Station and has been in the force for 30 years.

She’s been serving the force since she was 19 years old.

The medal she received was for the International Law and Enforcement during her service in the Solomon Islands from 2008 to 2009, before returning to take up the post of Divisional Crime Officer Northern for three years.

She also joined the Crime Investigation Department before she joined the Sexual Offenses Unit from 2001 to 2007.

ASP Vakatuturagani is currently the manager Public Sector and Commercial for the Central Division.
