Lautoka Fire Victims Laid to Rest

Four of the five victims who died in a house fire at V.M. Pillay Road in Lautoka on August 6, 2017 were buried yesterday.
They were: Vilisi Hazel Ranadi, Sefanaia Baleisolomone, Luisa Rokula Torocake and Telei Bavadra.
Vilisi, 3, Sefanaia, 9, and Luisa, 12, were buried at Balawa Cemetery in Lautoka while Ms Bavadra, 26, was buried at Viseisei Village cemetery.
The youngest of the five victims was described by her aunt as a “very active child and we all loved her. It is with sadness that we have to bid her farewell,” Veniana Maramanitai said.
Sefanaia was described by his uncle Arthur Muller as: “one child in our family who always used to crack jokes which would cheer us up especially during gatherings.
“We are sad that he is no longer with us but we know he is amongst angels in heaven rejoicing. We are hopeful that one day we will meet him in heaven.”
His class teacher, Loame Lauwai, said: “He was an outspoken and well behaved child. He always used to share and was a good friend to his other classmates.”
Sefanaia and Vilisi were buried in the same coffin.
Luisa was described by her aunt, Vatili Naivalewaqa, as “a girl full of life and we had planned good things for her in future.”
Her class teacher, Anaseini Qele, said that she was a beautiful tall girl always ready to help others.
At Viseisei Village, Ms Bavadra’s grandfather, said: “Whenever she comes to the village she would respect the village way of life.
“When she will be out of the village then we can see her hairstyle, and fashion back on track. That was how she lived.
“Telei was a very sporty person who played all sports including football and rugby league.”
