Buca Bay Kajis Here To Conquer

Buca Bay are out to conquer the 2017 Rewa Galaxy Kaji Rugby tournament, which kicks off at Suva’s ANZ Stadium today.
With more than 3000 players competing in the four days of competition, Buca Bay have 165 players competing in all six categories – Under-9, U10, U11, U12, U13 and U14.
Buca Bay contingent manager Jemesa Matanitobua said it was going to be an emotional day when they run onto the ANZ Stadium’s main ground today competing for the first time in the annual event.
“It’s going to be a historical moment for the school children and the people of Buca Bay will see their children competing in the event for the first time,” he said.
“Our aim is to win all the titles. It took us one year to plan and select 165 players out of 500 to bring to Suva.”
Buca Bay is represented by Tunuloa Catholic, St Patrick Primary, Kama District, Navuno Primary and Kioa Island schools.
“The challenges have been enormous for us to prepare the team,” Mr Matanitobua said.
Buca Bay will also wear a new set of jerseys and rugby kits following its timely sponsorship by BLK.
“BLK has provided us with the $10,000 sponsorship which includes jerseys and boots,” Mr Matanitobua said.
“This is the first time for the players as well to wear the renowned sporting brand.
“Our players are coming in to be like two rugby idols of Buca Bay. Rio Olympic sevens rugby gold medallist Seremaia Tuwai and former Vodafone Flying Fijian rep, Gabirieli Lovobalavu.”
