Organisers of the Chef’s Table are looking forward to their fundraising gala dinner at the Rhum-Ba at Port Denarau on October 3.

Chef’s Table founder and Rhum-Ba executive chef Darren Braddock said: “The Chef’s Table is where the Fijian spirit and generosity come together within the hospitality industry; a huge and important community in the Fijian business sector.

“Let’s show what it is to be Fijian and the Mai Kana spirit of community.”

The seven events organised by Chef’s Table so far raised over $100,000 with many generous people volunteering their time, skills, produce and funds. This has been used for relief work in two cyclones, cyclone Pam in Vanuatu in 2015 and cyclone Winston last year.

“The generosity of patrons, sponsors and the hard working people who bring this event together still even now surprises me how much people in Fiji give to a good cause,” Mr Braddock said.

“We have had some great chefs take part again and again who work for fantastic resorts, restaurants and businesses all in the name of charity work for the community.”

Chef’s Table is where guests are invited to the dinner and served personally with the best dishes by the skilled chefs.

Other fundraising activities are tied to the event.

“The heartfelt Bula, kerekere and mai kana mentality is in essence what brings so many tourists to Fiji so they too can get a taste of paradise,” he said.

“As a chef I wanted to help by giving what I do best – cook and invite some friends to join in along the way and what an amazing group and events has turned out.

“So still carrying on this newly fledgling tradition we invite you all both volunteers and patrons to once again come to the Chef’s Table and Mai Kana.”
