A-G Joins Hindu Brothers, Sisters In Prayers

Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has been attending Shri Krishna Janmashtami gatherings currently held around the country to countdown the birth of Lord Krishna.
He initially attended the prayer session at Mahambu Maharaj Road at Vesivesi Road in Kinoya at a gathering organised by the Suva Navyuak Ramayan Mandali on Friday.

On Sunday, he attended the Maa Kali Ramayan Mandali in Vuci Road, Nausori.
Followers at the gatherings took advantage of Mr Sayed-Khaiyum’s presence that after the prayer sessions, asked him about various Government initiatives on issues affecting them.
An elderly woman reached out to Mr Sayed-Khaiyum and informed him that her husband died in an accident seven years ago and to date has not received any form of compensation.
Another man who was injured at his workplace in 2008 was yet to receive his workman’s compensation. The man said that he has not been paid as the insurance company had appealed the judgment on the basis that one judge had heard the case and another passed the judgment.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum informed him that it would be unlikely for an appeal to be before court for so long. He also advised them that some insurance companies did have the tendency of dragging cases.

However, keeping that in mind, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum had announced in the 2017-2018 National Budget a Fiji Accident Compensation Commission which would ensure that accident victims and family members were compensated without unnecessary delays.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum attended another gathering in Koronivia last night.
