Naitasiri Highlanders will make their debut in the 2017 Fiji Primary Schools Kaji Netball competition when it kicks off at Suva Grammar School today.

Nawaisomo Primary School teacher and Under-13 coach Mereani Baleilomaloma said they were looking forward to a good outing in the three day tournament.

“We have been preparing up in the hills which is something different compared to other teams who live around the city,” Baleilomaloma said.

“This is the first time we are taking part in this competition and we are really excited. The reason we haven’t been taking part until now is because of our location, it is hard to bring the children to such tournaments.

“But we have managed to gather eight schools who make up our district and represent all grades despite the challenges.

“When we try to collect the $50 levy it is really hard for the parents who are farmers.

“We are hoping they can do well and give something back to their parents who have helped get them here.”
