An initiative has been taken by the Coral Coast Chapter of Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association to help support the Government in their commitment in cleaning up the environment.

Chairman Peter Hopgood has tailor made a competition with the people of Nadroga Navosa to coincide with the theme “No Plastic- That’s Fantastic campaign.”

“We are aware the Government of Fiji is committed to cleaning up our environment. The resorts based on the Coral Coast would like to be a part of this initiative,” he said

Mr Hopgood, who is the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort General Manager, said he has sent invitations to various stakeholders in the province to meet and discuss the following:

 

The proposed project and prizes are as follows;

             The cleanest village of the competition will receive a prize money of $1000,

             The cleanest school competition winner receives $1000 prize money,

             School student poster competition which is for every grade from Kindergarten to year 12 wins $100 prize money

             Distribution of reusable green shopping bags for every student in all schools in Nadroga / Navosa province,

             And summing it up with the Clean-up on Fiji Day.

Nadroga Navosa District Education Officer Shalendra Rao has praised the initiative outlined by Mr Hopgood and they have confirmed their participation.

The meeting will be held on September 8 at The Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort Conference Room.
