After two years of construction the new Methodist Church of Uluinakavika at Na- duna settlement outside Labasa was officially opened.

Church administrator Apakuki Ratucoko said they had spent $63,000 on the project.

“The plan for the new church was first mooted in 1994,” he said.

“It was 23 years of planning and in 2015 everything went into full swing.”

Mr Ratucoka said they were grateful to the company Fairdeal Earthmoving Contractors for assisting them in building the church.

“In fact they were the answer to our prayers.”

Mr Ratucoko said the church comes under the Qoibau Methodist circuit. Other churches in the circuit are; Vunimoli, Korowiri, Batinikama, Namoli,
Galoa and Nubunikavula.

The circuit is headed by Reverend Mosese Beranayarayara who also officiated the opening of the new church.

“This is the seventh church in the circuit.

“The new church will serve the Tuiwainikai families who have been living in the settlement for decades and also those in nearby farming communities
as well.”
