Counsels for the case against a Sigatoka man who allegedly murdered his wife on July 1, 2015 informed the Suva High Court yesterday that they were ready for trial.

Hem Rabneet Singh appeared before Judge Justice Salesi Temo represented by Legal Aid lawyer Priya Chand.

It is alleged that he murdered his 29-year-old wife Saleshni Lata near Tagitagi Settlement in Semo.

Her burnt body was allegedly found by a farmer near Semo Hill.

Justice Temo mentioned in court that the accused allegedly hit his deceased wife on the head with a yardstick causing her skull to be fractured which resulted in her death.

The court heard that the Prosecution is relying on Singh’s caution interview and alleged confession.

Further Justice Temo stated that the voir dire papers (a preliminary examination of a witness or a juror by a judge or counsel) had been filed.

Prosecution will be calling 15 witnesses during the trial.

Singh’s bail was extended and the case has been adjourned to November 17 for pre-trial Conference.
