Sigatoka River community learn more about issues concerning national budget.

Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, on Saturday, met residents of Vilalevu, a farming community at Valley Road in Nadroga.

The Attorney-General was at the gathering on the invitation of residents on the occasion of a week-long prayers at a Hindu Temple.

The A-G held an informal talanoa session with residents who sought clarification on various issues pertaining to land, agriculture, social welfare, senior citizens pension scheme, Government’s student loan scheme and on the recently announced 2017-2018 National Budget.

The key reason for the invitation, according to a committee member of the temple, Arvind Chand, was based on the request by the committee for the purpose of simplifying the National Budget especially the new initiatives and changes that were announced.

“All the residents in Vilalevu are commercial farmers, however, many of them do not have a good education background thus the reason for inviting the Honourable A-G to clarify many of the issues and also simplify the budget for our residents,” he said.
