It was an overwhelming moment for 73-year-old Lawrence Ah Sam after he won in the second quarter-mile Pacific Energy Shell Lubricant Drag Race for the first time.

He clocked a personal best of 10.841 secs followed by  Ravin Nath  (11.227) and  Roy Singh third (12.360).

Ah Sam, who had been participating in the car race for over 40 years, was grateful.

“I feel happy to have won the overall event for the first time,” Ah Sam said.

“I have been racing for the last 40 years and I am very passionate about cars.

“I took part in two races and my second one was far better than my first one and I manged to get my personal time of 10.841 secs.

“I am hopeful to continue improving my time in my future car drags.”
