Singh Prefers October Date

Fiji’s renowned son, golfer Vijay Singh said he could probably entice more big name players to come and play at the Fiji International.
Speaking to the Fiji SUN after finishing one under total of 287 at the end of the tournament yesterday, Singh said this would however be only possible if the tournament was shifted to October each year.
Singh said October would be a more suitable time for the tournament for more big name players to be free to grace the course at Natadola.
“The timing is very difficult,” Singh said.
“You have got to have the right moments of having a tournament.
“If you look at it, I have just played a major tournament and then I came here.”
Singh has always recommended for the tournament in Fiji to be staged in October each year.
Singh recorded 71, 72, 73, and 71 for a total of 287 over the four days.
As for local players wanting to make it into the big league, Singh said his only advice would be that budding golfers “need to practice, practice and practice.”
“They need to take lessons and see what the rest of the world is doing,”he said.
“If they can do that they can advance.”
Singh said if he could do it any other golfer in Fiji could achieve what he has achieved.
