Suva Thump Rakiraki

Rakiraki let an early lead slip by to let Suva back into the game and win 5-1 in their Vodafone Premier League clash at the FSC grounds yesterday.

Discipline and the lack of fitness was the downfall for the westerners.

Rakiraki will be demoted to Senior League next year.

Jale Vota put Rakiraki ahead midway through the first spell that delighted the 300 strong partisan crowd.

However, that halftime 1-0 lead was cancelled out in the second spell with the equaliser from Pita Rabo.

From there was no looking back as goals from Sairusi Naulabu and Kelvin Naidu and a double to Ravinesh Karan Singh.

Rakiraki FA president Shaniel Goundar said the team would have to regroup again next year as they have been struggling throughout with financial problems

“We only have money for bus fares and can’t pay allowances,”he said.

“So it is hard to maintain a good team when you don’t have the finance.”
