The Ba Under-12 football side started strongly in the Vodafone Fiji Primary Schools Football Championship by being the first team to qualify for today’s semifinal.

The Penisoni Tirau captained-side were on track in their campaign when they beat Rewa 1-0 in their pool opener at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.

The goal came from striker Mosese Naba who in a counter attacking move from the left flank delicately chipped the ball to the back of the net.

In their second clash, Ba proved too strong for Navosa with a 2-0 victory.

Their goals came from Naba and Krish Gounder who made no mistake with his penalty attempt.

Ba Primary Schools Football Association official Naushad Khan said, all credit goes to the players as they were training during the holidays.

“They were part of the U10 players moulded by coach Arvin Chand.

“We’re confident to retain the title and we’ve been the first team to qualify for the semifinal.”

The side will be banking on players like Navneel Singh (right back), Abdul Shahil, Ayush Dayal, and goalkeeper Ramisese Saukivalu, who is yet to concede a goal during the first day.

RESULTS:
Lautoka 0 – 0 Labasa, Nalawa 1 – 1 Tailevu, Ba 1 – 0 Rewa, Navosa 2 –2 Seaqaqa, Lautoka 2– 0 Nalawa, Labasa 2– 0 Tailevu, Ba 2– 0 Navosa, Rewa 1– 0 Seaqaqa.
