Company To Manage, Develop Assets For Church

The Methodist Church of Fiji has set up a management company Lako Yani
Management Private Limited (LYML) chaired by former Prime Minister and former leader of the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua Party, Laisenia Qarase.

The company is tasked to organise and direct the development of church properties for maximum returns.

It was approved and registered on August 31, last year following the recommendation of a special committee to explore the potential for entering the property market.

Company directors include Mr Qarase, Ratu Jone Kubuabola, Tui Mailekai, Former church
Vice President Ratu Meli Saukuru, former Housing Authority chief executive officer Alipate Naiorosui and former Fijian Holdings Managing Director Sereana Qoro.

The company became fully operational from January this year.

Its first six months in operation saw the three church tourism sites advertised internationally through a company website.

The tourism sites are Kaba Island, Caqalai Island and Vunidilo Island.

They are currently up for lease.

Lako Yani company manages and develops the assets of the Methodist Church in Fiji Holding Trust (MCFHT) to which the trust pays a management fee for their work.

Church assets are owned by MCFHT and not LYML.

Further the company manages and develops assets in accordance with the terms of the agreement and in compliance with the trust’s 10 year strategic plan and annual corporate plan.
