Drug accused duo remanded
Two men have been remanded by the High Court in Suva for allegedly possessing and importing cocaine.
Lalesh Mudaliar and Mohammed Saiyaz are charged with one count each of unlawful importation of illicit drugs and unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
The matter was heard before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe yesterday.
It is alleged that between July 29 and August 4 at Suva, Mudaliar and Saiyaz, without lawful authority imported 1246 grams of cocaine. It is also alleged that on August 4 at Suva they were in possession of 1.246 kilogrammes of cocaine.
State lawyer Siteri Navia sought time to file information and disclosures. Mudaliar and Saiyaz were represented by Jolame Uludole.
The case has been adjourned to September 8, for mention.
