Increase in cybercrime a concern: Ratu Inoke

The Minister for Defence and National Security, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, says the issue of rising cybercrime activities must be made aware to the public.
The minister raised the issue during a briefing at the Fiji Police Force Southern Division Headquarters in Nabua, Suva, on Monday.
“The issue of cybercrime emerges as more people have access to smart phone, computers and other technologically advanced gadgets which can exploit information,” Ratu Inoke said.
“As technology grow we expect that incidences of cybercrime will increase.”
Another issue raised at the briefing was the traffic congestion in Suva and the increase in the number of jaywalkers in the main city centre.
Police said they were doing their best to provide security and were hopeful that the public would continue to lend them support.
The briefing was part of a nationwide initiative to support the Police in its work.
