Please bear with congestion at peak hours: Robert Sen

The Fiji Roads Authority has requested the understanding from commuters for the congestion experienced along the Suva-Nausori corridor during peak traffic hours.
The authority’s acting chief executive officer, Robert Sen, said they would continue to mitigate road congestion how best they could and requested the understanding from commuters.
Mr Sen said the congestion was a combination of water main repairs, road sites under construction and movement of people travelling to social functions or returning home from work.
He said that currently they had road works along Edinburgh Drive; from the Nabua Roundabout to Kinoya and Khalsa Junction, Queen Elizabeth Drive and Gladstone Road.
“However, road works are put on hold during peak time,” Mr Sen said.
“At Nabua we are rebuilding the road and have restricted traffic down to two lanes.
“This is necessary as we are removing material and rebuilding the road and the public needs to accept that there is an increase in the number of cars on our roads adding to the congestion.”
