Rains Over Next Days After Dry Spell: Kumar

Expect more rain in the days ahead says, Fiji Metrological Service director Ravind Kumar.

The is because of a trough of low pressure present over the country.

“This is associated with thunder storms and isolated heavy rain and is gradually moving north eastwards and is expected to return tomorrow,” Mr Kumar said.

It would eventually clear by later this week either tomorrow or Friday.

“Some places are expected to experience some thunder storm and isolated heavy falls as well, but it’s not going to be wide spread.”

Mr Kumar said the rainfall from April to July was exceptionally below average.

“Most parts of the country were experiencing meteorological drought so the rain that we are getting is not going to overcome the deficiency that we have accumulated for the last four months but it’s very welcoming in terms of damping the effect of dry spells we have experienced.

“It’s good that we are getting rain after four months of dry spell,” Mr Kumar said.
