Fiji Museum Introduces Students To French Ways

The Fiji Museum, in collaboration with Alliance Francaise de Suva, yesterday invited primary school students to participate in a French cultural learning programme.

The 55 participants watched a documentary and received an introduction to the French language, as well as to a New Caledonia exhibition.

A Video and a French music workshop followed.

“The main goal of this programme is to bring French culture, not only from the mainland France but also from French territories in the Pacific like New Caledonia, Wallis and Futuna and French Polynesia,” said programme leader William Ripaude.

The Korean and Chinese Embassies, with Fiji Museum educators, held cultural exchange learning programmes for local students in the past.

Since 2015, the Fiji Museum has held 19 open days to educate young people on the cultures and traditions of Fiji.

On September 9, the Museum will host a Kamunaga educational programme for at least a 100 high school students aimed at preserving age-old Fijian traditions, said education officer at the museum Vereniki Nailo.
