First U12 Win For Rewa

Rewa won the 42nd Vodafone Fijian Primary Schools Football Inter-District Championship Under-12 grade for the first time yesterday.
This was after the junior ‘Delta Tigers’ defeated Labasa 1-0 in the final at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
Striker Sohel Kumar scored 10 minutes into the game and it was a proud moment for Rewa coach, 23 year old Shinal Nand.
“It was a tough game and Labasa played well. But the boys played their hearts out and the best team won,” Nand said.
He said the team faced a lot of challenges and they did not have proper grounds to train on.
“We started preparation in 2015 as the U10 team.”
Nadi coach Phool Singh was happy with what they achieved.
“The boys played to plan but it’s hard luck as both teams were equally competitive,” he said.
“This will be the platform for the future. These are Year 5, 6 students and I know we will be a very strong team in the future.
Rewa received $300 while Labasa walked away with $150.
Awards:
Golden Boot: Isoa Laulaba (Rewa); Golden Glove: Gabriel Eremasi (Rewa); Golden Ball: Rivnet Reddy (Labasa).
