Courts continue to sponsor the annual Fiji Football Association Inter-District Championship for the 18th year in a row.

Yesterday, the major retailer of home goods, electrical goods, furniture, bedding, computers, fitness and floor covering, provided $130,000 for the 2017 Courts IDC which kicks off on October 10 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

“This is the final year of our sponsorship agreement with Fiji Football Association but talks are underway to renew the deal for another five years,” Courts director of marketing Anil Senewiratne said

“The biggest tournament on the Fiji Football calendar is closely followed by all the fans here and abroad.”

Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel thanked Courts for the 18 years of continued sponsorship.

“$130, 000 has been provided and this is one of the largest sponsorships for a single tournament,” Patel said.

“In the Premier Division, the winner gets $22,000, runner-up $6,000 and the semifinalists $1000 each.

“In the Senor Division, winner get $7,500, runner-up $2,500 and the semifinalists $500 each.”

In the Premier division, Group A consists of Lautoka, Suva, Nadi and either Tavua or Seaqaqa while Group B will have defending champions Labasa, Ba, Rewa and Dreketi.

In the senior division, Group One will have Tavua/ Seaqaqa, Nadogo, Tailevu/Naitasiri and Navua and Group 2 will have Rakiraki, Savusavu, Nadroga and Lami.

The Courts IDC takes a break on Friday October 13 for the Fiji FA annual congress.

The semifinals will be played on Saturday, October 14, while the finals will be played on Sunday, October 15.

The IDC tournament started in 1938 and this has made IDC the longest running football tournament in Fiji.
