A 12-year-old Taveuni boy was airlifted to the Suva Colonial War Memorial hospital on Saturday after he was found lying motionless in a pool of blood.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that the incident happened about 11:45am on the North coastal Road, Taveuni Island.

“The victim was sent by his father to the shop when he allegedly jumped into the rear tray of a moving grey twin cab and alleged to have jumped out when the vehicle was still moving,” Ms Naisoro said.

“The boy was found lying motionless in a pool of blood on the road.”

“The victim was then rushed to Waiyevo Hospital and later air-lifted to Suva for admission due to the seriousness of injuries he received.

“Investigations continue.”
