O’Connor wins top award

Scotty O’Connor won the annual Bill Williams Memorial trophy for being the top angler during the Denarau Game and Sports Fishing Club competition yesterday.
The owner of the Namotu Island Resort also received $500 for his effort.
“It was an awesome weekend of competition and I thank all the anglers and my team on board the Lunasea” he said.
Nikki Kickusch on board Witch doctor took out the top female angler award and also landed the heaviest Mahimahi weighing 11.6kg.
“This is my second time to win the top woman angler since the ANZAC Day competition,” she said.
International School Nadi student Patrick Spillane on board Fruit Loop took out the top junior award landing 9.7kg catch.
Club president Mark Ellis said, “The two days of competition was fantastic with good weather. The event attracted 40 anglers and 11 boats which was awesome.”
Ellis thanked their traditional sponsors of the event including McDonald’s (Fiji), Higgins (Fiji), Blue Gas, Port Denarau Marina, Namotu Island Resort, Flame Tree Developments (Fiji) Limited, and Dev Corp,
The next competition on the DGSFC calendar is the Pinktober Comp in October and the three-day Fiji Classics 2017 in November.

Blue Marlin: Lloyd Marr;
Black Marlin: Steve Lakor;
Sail Fish: Dan Moore;
Short Billed Fish Spearfish: Thakor Punja (Lunasea).
