Seaqaqa Close To Promotion

The Seaqaqa football team are a step closer to booking their spot in the Premier Division.
In the first of the Vodafone Senior Division playoffs, Seaqaqa held Tavua to a 1-1 draw at Garvey Park, Tavua yesterday. This has placed them in a better position as they will host the second playoffs this weekend.
What happened: Both teams started the game on a high note as they looked to score early. Seaqaqa took the lead in the 38th minute through a Taniela Rakarive strike after he capitalised on an error made by the Tavua goalkeeper.
Halftime: Seaqaqa 1-0 Tavua.
The goal woke up Tavua as they started the second half on a high noted. Continuous pressure got to the Seaqaqa defenders and this saw Sakiasi Nadroge copping a red card.
Tavua never gave up and in the 60th minute they got a penalty and Varinava Taletawa made no mistake with his attempt.
Comments: Tavua coach Saroj Kumar said: “We should have won but silly mistakes from the players cost us the game. We’ll be playing in Seaqaqa next and we’ll have to work on a lot of things.
“Especially on our decision making and also the importance of working together as a team. We need to work on it so that we can secure a win and qualify to the premier division.”
Seaqaqa team manager Nilesh Chand said: “For next week’s game, we’ll be concentrating on our defence so that we can make history by qualifying to the premier division for the first time.”
