FEA centre opens in Ba

Fiji Electricity Authority yesterday opened a customer care centre in Main Street, Ba town.
Speaking at the opening, FEA chief executive officerHasmukh Patel said the office would allow a face-to-face interaction of customers with their staff members.
“We know that there are people here who want face-to-face interaction with their service providers,” Mr Patel said.
Now people need not travel all the way to Lautoka, he said.
“New installation, change of account names, transfer and closure of account, reconnection and disconnection and all billing questions will be addressed in this office,” he said.
He added that for bill payments, we will not collect any cash here and the customers can pay their dues at MH Carpenters outlets.”
The customer care centre aims at serving the people of Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki.
The office will be open Monday to Thursday from 8am- 4:30 pm and Friday from 8am- 4pm.
At the moment the centre employs only one staff member but FEA will look into hiring more as demand increases.
Mr Patel also addressed the importance and availability of e-billing.
“If you have email, we can send your bills on emails on regular basis.
“We are trying to promote e-billing because it can help us save a lot of money.
It is costing FEA $120, 000- 130, 000 a month for printing and sending the bills to customers all over Fiji.
“In a year, we can save $1.5 million if everyone switches to e-billing.
“If we get half of Fiji to use e-billing FEA can save up to $750, 000 a year which is a lot of money.”
FEA will be sharing the new office with Telecom Fiji Limited(TFL)
