Ferry Operator Awaits Franchise Approval

MV Uluinabukelevu operator, Valesasa Transport Company Limited, is awaiting confirmation on the franchise shipping schedules for September.
The MV Uluinabukelevu went on its last franchise trip for this month to Kadavu on August 21.
Company chief executive officer Ilaitia Caginavanua was given two franchise trips for the month of August.
Mr Caginavanua said these two franchise trips were for the Kadavu routes.
Meanwhile, passengers returned home on Monday after the school break for a normal trip to Kadavu.
Mr Caginavanua said that the vessel services the Dravuni, Bulia, Matasawalevu, Nukuvou, Valea, Lavindi, Kadavu Koro, Soso, Dravuwalu, Muani, Levuka and Daviqele routes.
“The vessel had left Mua-i-Walu jetty on Monday and will stop at its normal route run before returning on Thursday,” he said.
Cargoes that were loaded on the MV Uluinabukelevu included building materials, shop supplies, groceries, fuel, gas cylinders and shopping supplies to families in the village.
The vessel is expected to commence its second trip to Gau on Thursday.
“The MV Uluinabukelevu will go on its Gau trip stopping at Lovu, Nukuloa, Nawaikama, Sawieke and Qarani,” Mr Caginavanua said.
