TFL Celebrates Hibiscus Success

After successfully winning the coveted title of Miss Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus, Telecom Fiji Limited held a success celebration in tribute to contestant Candace Veramu at the Ganilau House in Suva yesterday.

TFL chief executive officer Mothilal De Silva offered his congratulatory message to Ms Veramu and affirmed TFL’s support as the sponsoring body.

“We have been sponsoring Miss Telecom Fiji for three consecutive years and we strongly believe that pageants of this nature bring communities together,” he said.

Mr De Silva said the Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus acted as a platform for youths to not only project the Fijian beauty and intellect but to raise awareness on issues such as climate change and social concerns like the underprivileged and mentally challenged people.

“Most importantly you get an opportunity to serve the communities  better  and you have other  things to overcome in the future like the Miss Fiji pageant and after winning that, we will stand by you in all your future endeavours  especially other social activities that you will participate in, in the coming months,” he said.

“It’s a joint effort and it’s not only sales and marketing , all the divisions took part in  most of the activities  and I think that contributed a lot  to this success.”

He also encouraged Miss Veramu to remain grounded with her achievement.

Meanwhile Miss Telecom Fiji, Candace Veramu, 21 said her next step would include preparing for the Miss Pacific pageant.

“Well hopefully if I get Miss Pacific then that would be great but I also have plans to further my studies in Australia,” she said.

Aside from health and wellness I’m really into design and I think it is something that I had gotten from my parents. I have signed up for a course in design so I’ve got my fingers crossed that I will get it because it’s something that I am passionate about.”
