Livewire hooker Ratunaisa Navuma has a crooked right arm. But it fails to prevent him from playing the sport he loves.

The Tilivalevu, Nadroga, native is all set to play for the Fiji Airways Drua against Brisbane City at Ballymore in the National Rugby Championship tomorrow.

The 23-year-old has been part of the Nadroga team for the past four years.

“No pain, no gain in rugby,” he said referring to his crooked right arm.

“My arm was broken when I was playing for Cuvu College against Nadroga/Navosa Provincial College in the Under-15 grade.Hard luck I guess.

“It was bitter pain that day but it was fixed and massaged by the traditional healers from Nadroumai, Nadroga.

“The shape of my arm has changed but it has not stopped me from playing rugby.”

He said playing for the champion Stallions helped him to be included in the Senirusi Seruvakula-coached side.

“This is one of the great achievements for me and it was my aim while with Nadroga to play for Fiji one day.  I want to be a Flying Fijian and I believe I’m on the right path.”

He is among the seven players from the BLK Nadroga rugby team in the Fiji Airways Drua.
